Programs for a Diverse Audience
Canadian Broadcast Corporation (CBC)/Radio- Canada funds the development of Canadian radio and TV programs. It supports writing, music, dance, opera, news and documentaries of Francophones and Anglophones. CBC/ Radio Canada has also given support to Aboriginal producers which later led to help launch the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN) in 1999, the world's first national Aboriginal television network.

The invention of the internal combustion engine and refrigeration made larger cities possible. Large factories, such as steel mills, auto plants and paper manufacturing, created jobs for many people. Large factories emerged because mechanization made it possible.
